Doctoral Researcher
Gwendolyn Moiles is a doctoral candidate at IRI THESys and the Agricultural and Food Policy Group at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Goucher College in Maryland, USA, and spent two semesters studying in Germany, first at Eberhardt-Karls-Universität Tübingen and then FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, before earning a M.Sc. in Integrated Natural Resource Management at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2022). Her master’s thesis explored evolving aquaculture settings in the USA and Scotland through the lens of social license to operate.
Since 2023, Gwen has been part of the CUBES Circle sub-project focused on transformation and innovation diffusion together with affiliated IRI THESys member, Dr. Peter. H. Feindt. She uses qualitative social science research approaches informed by society and technology studies perspectives to contextualize and explore the material, social, and discursive implications of controlled-environment agriculture in urban settings.
