The Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems – IRI THESys – fosters inter- and transdisciplinary research and projects related to land, water and energy use as well as food production and consumption, against the backdrop of climate change. Founded in 2013, it stimulates cross-faculty research with HU departments ranging from Geography to Philosophy, Agricultural Economics to Theology. In addition, it cooperates with extra-mural partner institutes from the Berlin-Brandenburg region. With an institutional mission to enable sustainable transformations, IRI THESys aims to build bridges between:
- Disciplinary concepts, epistemologies and worldviews
- Research and practice
- Quantitative and qualitative methods and explanatory, interpretative and critical reasoning
