Daniel Müller is Deputy Head of the Department Structural Change of Farms and Rural Areas at the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO). In addition, he is lecturer (Privatdozent) at the Geography Department of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin where he also completed his habilitation in geography. Daniel obtained his doctoral degree and diploma degree in agricultural sciences from the Georg-August-University Göttingen and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, respectively.
The overarching goal of Daniel’s research program is to advance the understanding of land-system change, including its multiple repercussions on human welfare, food production, and the environment with a geographic focus on Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Southeast Asia, and Western China. Daniel tackles these issues with integrative approaches that combine his expertise in resource economics and natural sciences.
