PhD Project
This PhD project explores the material, social, and discursive implications of controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) in urban settings through qualitative social science research. The goal is to contextualize and explore bold visions of agricultural and food transformation through an adapted Social License to Operate framework. Using case studies, the research will explore alignments and frictions between the CEA’s promises and place-based social realities. The research is a sub-project of CUBES Circle, a multi-trophic integrated CEA project funded by the BMBF “Agricultural Systems of the Future” consortium.
