Tilman Brück is Professor for Economic Development and Food Security at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Team Leader – Development Economics and Food Security at the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) near Berlin, and Founder and Director of ISDC – International Security and Development Center in Berlin. Tilman is also the Head of the Zero Hunger Lab at Humboldt-Universität and IGZ, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Households in Conflict Network (HiCN) and the Principal Investigator of the Life in Kyrgyzstan Study (LiK Study).
His research interests focus on the economics of household behaviour and well-being in areas affected by violent conflict, fragility and humanitarian emergencies, including the measurement of violence and conflict in household surveys and the impact evaluation of programs in conflict-affected areas.
Tilman studied economics at the University of Glasgow and the University of Oxford and obtained his doctorate in economics from the University of Oxford. He was a member of the German Young Academy and a co-founder of the Global Young Academy.
Tilman has been a member of IRI THESys since March 2024.
