Interdisciplinary Dialogue
The Hydrogen Rush: What is in it and for whom?
12 February 2025, 13.00-15.00
Hybrid: IRI THESys, RUD 12B & on ZoomA critical dialogue to examine the emerging "hydrogen rush" and its complex socio-technical and ecological implications. This interdisciplinary dialogue brings together scholars from different disciplines to explore green hydrogen as a lens for understanding the energy transition's territorial and infrastructural transformations. We will discuss how hydrogen projects reshape landscapes and communities, interrogate the repurposing of fossil fuel infrastructure, and examine often-overlooked ethical dimensions – from household-level impacts to questions of energy justice. By unpacking these global-local entanglements, we aim to foster crucial insights about who benefits from and bears the costs of this emerging technology and its attendant socio-technical configurations and how they produce and reproduce inequality and injustices.
